Anxiety/Trauma Therapy
Anxiety, which is the body’s neurological response to fear, can be something that is experienced related to a specific event or it may prove to be a chronic condition.
Anxiety pairs negative beliefs with the physical activation that occurs in the body and sometimes it can feel as if it is on a loop.
Anxiety treatment includes learning how to work with the body to learn tools to regulate and train the nervous system to find a less activated state, coupled with challenging the negative thoughts that are paired with the fears and worries.
Often, Anxiety, can be a symptom that is rooted in unresolved trauma. Trauma is often misunderstood. The term refers to any event or experience from your past that is still affecting your present. Types of Trauma can include (but are not limited to these):
Events of abuse including emotional, physical or sexual assault.
Loss of a significant relationship and serious life changes.
Loss of a job which created financial instability or affected your self worth and identity
Betrayal by a trusted person
Car accident or other life threatening event
Death of child or loved one
Victim of a crime
Attachment disorders from childhood
Talk therapy can be beneficial for many people, but after years of experience, I have found that more advanced methods such as EMDR, Ego State Therapy and using Polyvagal Theory with Mindfulness techniques is a much more effective way to approach trauma and anxiety to provide long term relief and support truly correcting negative cognitions and reducing symptoms.
EMDR:
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
EMDR is an evidenced based therapy and now recognized as one of the most effective treatments for:
Treatment of Trauma
Treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
Eating Disorders
Anxiety
NOTE: EMDR CAN BE OFFERED VIA VIRTUAL PLATFORM
EMDR can be a primary therapy or a supplemental therapy related to your needs.
