Can I interview a therapist before deciding?

It is important for you to feel comfortable with a counselor and understandable to want to talk before scheduling a formal intake. I feel for that to be truly beneficial to see if the personalities and approach fit, it is best to do that face to face. It also takes longer than a few minutes to do that and to answer your questions as fully as possible. Because of that, I offer a 15 minute Meet and Greet to give you an opportunity to judge if you feel comfortable with me and assess if you feel I can provide you the care needed.  Please note there is a small fee for this session and it is not covered by insurance.

How long are therapy sessions?

Psychotherapy sessions are 55 minutes in length.

What kind of clients do you see?

I specialize in treating clients with eating disorders using a trauma based approach to therapy. I have 25 years of experience and am comfortable treating clients with a wide array of life issues as well.

Is this covered by my insurance?

In order for insurance to cover counseling services, you must have an evaluation that documents a clinical diagnosis.  With a clinical diagnosis, most insurance plans do cover mental health counseling.

Do you accept insurance?

For Maryland and Florida residents, I currently participate with Florida Blue and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of other states, Optum, Oscar Health, United Health Care and Aetna. If you have a different insurance company you can check with them to see if you have out of network benefits and you can then likely be reimbursed for sessions.

How much does therapy cost?

If you are using your health insurance, your out of pocket costs vary from plan to plan. I will work hard to notify you what the expected costs will be in terms of per session. Some people have standard co-pays and some people, especially those with high deductibles, will have to pay for the full session. My fees for a 55 minute session is $175/an EMDR session is $225

How do I know what my specific plan covers?

You should always contact your insurance company before you access any health care as each insurance plan is unique. Sometimes pre-authorization is required and sometimes you may have a deductible or copay and you should know those specifics.

Is payment required at time of visit?

Yes.  The system will ask that you enter a credit card number and this is used to cover the cost of your session. If you would prefer to use a different payment method, please communicate that at the time of your first session.

What kind of payment do you accept?

At this time, credit cards, Venmo or Zelle are accepted.
